Here I’ll highlight my best tracks released to date. Some may not be your favorite and that’s ok. I’ll let you dive into why I did what I did, and felt what I felt. Some people care about these things, so I’m here for them.
My 1000 follower release!!! Hold up hit 11/4/2022
Man this track is so unlike me to produce. But I’ll explain a few things. Firstly I don’t like being bound by a box or by an idea that I’m a certain type of producer. Hold Up is my way of saying I didn’t even expect to get 1000 followers. That’s 400 more people then who lives in my small small town. I’ve always been a huge fan of Pharcyde, Lords of the Underground, Smif-N-Wessun, Das EFX, KRS-One and A Tribe Called Quest. I love love love the style and flow the beats bring to the Mc’s and it inspired me to create Hold Up. The track is 94 BPM key of D. That’s what my 808’s are hitting at. Other then that the vocals are all over the place but tonally they mix well with the 808’s. So one day I was fiddling around with vocals and started chopping them up. I found out the natural movement of the vocals created a swing, much like how I design my bass’s and structure of my tracks. So I just went down this rabbit hole. Thus you have Hold Up. This is hands down my most favorite track I’ve made to date just by how groovy/jam band it feels. It’s uplifting instead of being dark and weird. I hope you guys enjoy listening to it just as much as I loved making it. I appreciate all of your guy’s support and love through this journey. As we push forward I’m sure these influences will cause me to make more and more groovy fun stuff like this.
Next up is Shaggy!!!!!
So this track hit me in a time of personal work transition. I was facing being laid off, and work drama. This is where the sad style melody came from. It wasn’t intentional just a flow state thing. Letting my emotions flow is something I strive to practice for every track I make. I love using flutes and weird melodic elements that compliment my style. It’s weird though that I honestly can’t sit here and tell you why I chose the sounds I did. When I’m in flow state it’s like someone else takes my hand and is guiding me to make these tracks, and I love it. Two months latter I got laid off, and found a new job a month after that. My new releases will reflect my emotion of a blessing. This track was number 1 on a few charts on soundcloud for a few days which threw me off guard as it’s not the hardest track out there. At 19.6k plays in 6 months as of this article I felt it is a very successful release when I’m sub 1k followers.
Second up is my Altered State EP
So this track list is probably my best work to date. Beating Shaggy even tho Shaggy hit some number 1 spots on soundcloud. Man this EP caused drama. Altered state itself was being fought over by two labels at the time. I wont name drop as that’s not kosher. But what I will say is this EP is what geared towards understanding what my style could do to people. It was humbling and quite welcome to say the least.
Diamonds – Is a trap banger geared towards the club crowd. You want that bass face? I got you. You want that polyrhythm? I got you. You want that deep euro vocal with sick 808’s? I got you. I strait went the fuck off on this track. And I honestly can’t tell you why I made it. I made it in one of the biggest rabbit hole flow state events of my career. I actually made this track and Like This in the same day. With no modification. Just some minor gain staging issues due to rushing, but other then that, full idea was completed in only 4-5 hours. I love love love this track.
Like This – Is what I call a swanky jam. A term I use to describe a flow that doesn’t make you dance, but sway. I was coming off the high of making Diamonds when I made this. It’s intended in the EP to calm you down in preparation for Altered state. It’s not the MOST interesting, but it is deep, and it is dark, and it is fun. I threw in some crows, thunderstorms and nasty deep 808’s to fill the void. I use my signature flute to drive the melody home and to compliment the drop. My intention was to create a natural state of push pull. The feeling you’re in a game of tug o war with your soul.
Altered State – Now this Lady’s and Gents is the track that caused the stir, caused the ruckus. This is THE track that got me noticed by labels, artists, and locals. It doesn’t have the most plays because it’s the last in an EP line up, but it is by far my best creative work to date. I had taught myself how to create and design side winders in phase plant. Inspired by Drum and Bass rollers. No one really uses DnB bass’s for deep weird experimental music in general. Most deep artists use ring mod on a sine wave with some delay… And to be frank it is about as common as saw waves in Riddim. In the pursuit of being unique.. I gave it a shot and well.. It caused problems. I had a label dragging its feet with another one biting at the grit to release it. First time that has ever happened to me. Both highly respectable labels. If you go to the EP you’ll see who I released with ;). I wont lie I was high as a mother fucker when writing this track, and it shows. With a grand total of 24k plays on the EP since it’s release I think it’s a success. Did I mention I only had roughly 600 followers when this EP was released. This bad boy was HUGE for me.
Next up is Doop Pah
This was released 1 year ago as of this article. 10/28/2022. This was another flow state miracle. I had just found out about pitch correction in FL studio. So I copied the notes from the vocals into a piano roll and created the melody. I was also experimenting with Drum and Bass at the time and found out reese bass’s were gnarly fun in this style of music. As you can tell I love that deep nasty vibe, and I think I translated and executed it well. It’s not one of my most played tracks but it is one of my more popular ones. It signifies a good milestone in growth as a producer. As it was played out around Florida and Colorado I saw people move to what I had created and it motivated me even more. I love the little things man. I don’t do this for money I do this for the art. And the fact that these bleep bloop noises I create move people is all the value I seek.
Last but not least is Taken Souls
Psyoptic the owner of Psychocybin Recordings gave me a shot to be on the roster with this collab. I had to have sent him like 10 ideas till this one stuck. He took what I gave him and changed it up into this banger you see before you. As the first track to ever hit 20k plays with the MurlockHolms project I can’t thank him enough in guiding me with this beautiful track. Though it’s not my most intricate work that you’ll hear in my more recent releases it is the foundation of what I sound like today. It also opened so many doors for me, and gained me recognition amongst some people I’m proud to call my friends.
